Hopefully I have peaked your interest and you are probably wondering what in the world I am talking about! The phrase ‘Just Say No’ reminds me of the 5th grade health assemblies I had to attend (which is still resonating in my head so the message obviously made an impression, ha!)
When did we get so used to saying yes to everything and saying NO was frowned upon? When did it become normal to say yes to all requests that came our way and deprive ourselves of our own sanity? Don’t get me wrong, I am a recovering ‘yes’ woman so I obviously am not an expert on self care….. BUT after a severe health scare, too much going on in my own brain to even define the word RELAX and an ever-growing to-do list, something had to change.
As we officially begin the holiday season, we all know it is a very exciting time! It is a time to embrace, enjoy and seize every moment. My encouragement to all of you is to seize saying NO. Say NO to the busyness that can take our focus away from the real meaning of this season. Say NO to things that truly do not impact your family or life in cherishing ways. No guilt allowed! It IS ok to say no. I don’t know about you, but I felt empowered when a dear friend told me earlier this year that it is OK to say NO.
Say NO… so you can say yes to pampering yourself a little bit, meeting a friend for a few drinks to catch up, snuggling with your kiddos watching a Christmas movie or just enjoying a cup of coffee with a great view at your favorite spot.
So my friends, as we begin the most exciting time this year – my wish for you all is that you embrace saying NO and say YES to what truly matters. Excited to spend the Holidays at Heritage with you and your family. Cheers!
Samantha
